My husband is Egyptian and we visit Cairo every once in a while. As we are getting older, it crosses his mind that he might want to purchase a house/villa, so that we could "retire" there one day.

There are some great western like communities being build near the Pyramids (City View) and look as though many more like communities are going to be built in the future.

I was wondering if 1) anyone else has purchased property in Egypt 2) Do you recommend it and why 3) what are some of the "glitches" that we could possibly expect (for example, we have already learned that our idea of purchasing a house isn't necessarily the same thing as how an Egyptian contractor delivers you a home) 4) Does anyone know of any like communities that are really nice and resonably priced and 5) what is the going price if there is such a thing...we were quoted SO many different prices that it was hard to make sense of it.
